Sponsor a Step (Appeal Successful)

This appeal is now closed. See our later Carriage Step Sponsorship page for details.

We recently commissioned local joiner, Brian Tattersall, to make a completely new set of wooden steps for our Class 108 Diesel Multiple Unit.

Many of the existing steps were so rotten that they were unsafe for further use, or they had already completely disappeared, leaving just the metal brackets in place.

Sapele Hardwood

Brian has recently delivered the 26 new steps, made from sapele hardwood, and we have held a trial fitting of some of the new steps on the trailer car. See below.

The new steps fitted in place.

Each step costs £20 to make, including purchasing all the fittings. We are looking for individuals to sponsor each of the new steps, and so far, 12 of the steps have been sponsored with 14 still available.

If you would like to sponsor a step, you can use the links in the footer of this website to make a donation.

Brian Tattersall also produces wooden replica locomotive nameplates and smokebox door number plates. Why not contact Brian to obtain a quote for your favourite locomotive?

Brian can be contacted on briantattersall@outlook.com or mobile 07498 711514.
