About Us

We are the Poulton & Wyre Railway Society. Formed in 2006 our society was set up to act as a catalyst to reopen the railway (the line) between Poulton and Fleetwood.

Substantial work has already been done clearing stations and the line between Shirley Heights bridge at Poulton-le-Fylde and the buffers just beyond Burglars Alley near to Fleetwood, including Thornton for Cleveleys Station and Burn Naze Station.

The Department for Transport has announced that the scheme should go forward. Having successfully achieved our aim, we have reset our future aspirations and initiated a new objective.

Our plan now is to develop, over time, a Heritage Railway Centre with a museum, offices, workshops and some sort of test line to display our collection of restored historical rolling stock, equipment and artefacts.
